“I probably won't win. because I'm too short”

“They only crown girls in white gowns so I have to wear white.”

“This is my last year to prove myself to the judges.”

“If I don't make the top 15 I’ll have nothing to show for myself.”

While these thoughts may not seem horrendous, they are all self-limiting ideas that can keep you from embracing your full authentic self on stage.

Improving your mindset will lead to more confidence, increased self-empowerment and strengthened resilience.

But how do you know if your mindset needs improving?

Here are 11 signs your mindset is ruining your pageant performance:

#1 Sign of a Bad Pageant Mindset: You are constantly comparing yourself to the other contestants

You can't help but wonder how everybody else is preparing for the pageant. Maybe you even look at their social media to see how much they're working out and wonder if you should be working out more. Yikes!

#2 Sign of a Bad Pageant Mindset: You refer to the other contestants as competition

Newsflash! The other contestants are not your competition. [BLANK] are your biggest competition. And if you can’t fill in the blank, honey, we’ve got work to do.

#3 Sign of a Bad Pageant Mindset: You’ve studied last year's winner’s performance

Why are you wasting your time trying to become someone you're not? You might as well watch ice skating videos while training to run a marathon aka. waste your time.

#4 Sign of a Bad Pageant Mindset: Seeing other contestants on social media makes you doubt yourself

Your comments say “Yass Queen” but your mind is screaming “Help Me!!” Ugh... that is not good stuff girlfriend.

Just go ahead and mute all the contestants until you’re ready to cheer for others knowing that their success does not equal your failure.

#5 Sign of a Bad Pageant Mindset: You have a whole list of everything you need to do before you can win

If your win is dependent upon a list of achievements yet to come, honey we have some serious self-worth issues going on.

Your accomplishments are worthy of celebration but please know that you are more than what’s written on your resume.

#6 Sign of a Bad Pageant Mindset: The idea of not making the top 15 is embarrassing

If your success is dependent upon someone else’s opinion of you, you will fail every time.

(I know that was harsh, but it’s true).

#7 Sign of a Bad Pageant Mindset: You are afraid to tell people you're competing because you don't want their judgment

Girl, you better stand up proudly in the decisions that you make and the way you choose to live your life!

If the judgment of being a contestant scares you, how do you think you’ll feel as a titleholder with 10x the amount of eyes on her?

#8 Sign of a Bad Pageant Mindset: You feel pressured to prove yourself on social media

I mean, if you’re going to share about the pageant journey, you better have something to show for it at the end of all this, right? No. Absolutely not.

You have nothing to prove to anyone else other than yourself.

#9 Sign of a Bad Pageant Mindset: You told your close friends you're competing but you don't want to tell too many people in case you don't win

Worrying about other people’s opinions is something we do to protect ourselves but if we let it control our lives it ends up hurting us way more than it protects us.

#10 Sign of a Bad Pageant Mindset: You think the more hours you spend rehearsing your walk the more confident you’ll be on stage

Ooh. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it doesn’t actually work that way...

#11 Sign of a Bad Pageant Mindset: You read this entire list and don't think the signs are “that bad”

Ha! Go ahead and deny deny all you want but self awareness is the first step in making a change towards becoming the confident queen you know deep down you are meant to be.

On the other hand, if you read this list and are now thinking "OMG I've done most of these!!"

Don't worry! I got you. When you work with me, you will be guided on your personalized journey to becoming a Queen on and off the stage. I'm talking mindset AND performance baby!

The only question is, are you ready to claim your crown?
